Bull Cafe

Why is this building interesting? This building is one of the first to accommodate Indian railway labourers, during colonial times.

The Village Market

Why is this building interesting? With its circular patterns and open air concepts, the Village Market adapted the shopping mall concept to suit Kenya’s climate. It has been used as an example for other shopping centers in Africa.

Cooperative Bank Building

Why is this building interesting? Built by a Swiss architect the structure is solid in construction, yet gracefully slopped in appearance.

I&M Bank Tower

Why is this building interesting? Described as one of Kenya’s western skyscrapers, I&M is a dramatic blue and stands as a 19 story high rise which was built on highest of quality construction standards

95 Limuru Road

Why is this building interesting? 95 Limuru Road is aesthetically beautiful; harmony is found in the proportions between the columns and the terrace and in the spacing between the windows. It is a good example of Kenyan Art Deco architecture.

Why is this building interesting? The parliament buildings are representative of a building of a nations’ capital in a post-colonial time.

Alan Donovan’s Heritage Home

Why is this building interesting?: African Heritage House reflects the usage of traditional African materials such mud and thatch, constructed in new and innovate ways. It was conceptualized by Alan Donovan and designed in collaboration with David Bristow.
